Jay Z has finally revealed why he and Beyonce named their twins Rumi and Sir.

The superstar introduced the two new additions to the Carter family on social media last month, writing at the time: "Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today."

And speaking to Rap Radar on Friday about how the pair came to choose the names, he shared: “Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter. "

While speaking about his little boy, the 4:44 rapper added: “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”

Jay also talked about how Blue, just five, came to rap on his latest album.

He said: “She got the headphones and she climbed on the little stool, and then she just started rapping.

“I was like, ‘Oh, s**t.’ I haver [her full freestyle] on my phone. Five minutes! Five minutes of her doing that.”

The 47-year-old added: “She kept doing that ‘boom shakalaka, boom shakalaka.’ I was like, ‘Oh, she understands the concept of a hook.'

“She’s five, and she understands the concept of a hook. I was like, ‘What the f**k is going on here?’ One of the great memories.”

As he promotes his album, the rapper also admitted the couple’s marriage wasn’t “totally built” on the truth.

"This is my real life," he said during an interview that was released on Tidal. "I just ran into this place and we built this big, beautiful mansion of a relationship that wasn't totally built on the 100 percent truth and it starts cracking."

He continued: "Things start happening that the public can see. Then we had to get to a point of ‘OK, tear this down and let's start from the beginning.' It's the hardest thing I've ever done."
