Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who happens to be celebrating his 78th birthday today, December 8, says he is delighted the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo and the party are winning the 2016 elections.

Provisional results trickling in from the various polling stations across the country have put Nana Addo in the lead, ahead of his main contender, John Mahama, of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview on Rainbow Radio, the former president said his prediction that Mr Akufo-Addo would win the elections had come through and that excites him.

He said: "Factually, Nana Addo is winning the elections. I am not the one declaring any results because the results coming in show that Nana Addo is winning.

"I am extremely happy. I am a happy man."
